What is KIBO?

KIBO is the screen-free robot kit for kids that lets 4- to 7-year-olds create, design, decorate and bring their own robot to life! KIBO is an easy and fun way to bring robotics and coding to your young learners and spark their interest in STEAM.

  • When children code with KIBO they are learning invaluable skills that will lead them on the path for success in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) skills and future careers. As they learn all these skills, they will think it is just play!
  • Based on 20 years of early child development research, this hands-on educational robot engages young students to learn STEAM concepts through play and creative self-expression.
  • STEAM learning with KIBO is fun, imaginative and easy. Your youngest learners will playfully discover these concepts by coding with wooden building blocks, creating sequences, and learning design processes.
  • Used in 55 countries and tested and approved by thousands of children and their caregivers, KIBO has proven efficacy in helping kids learn STEAM, and getting them excited about it!

Imagine and Create with KIBO

Young children learn by doing. KIBO gives your kids the chance to make their ideas physical and tangible—exactly what their young minds and bodies need. And KIBO does all this without requiring screen time from PCs, tablets or smartphones.

KIBO serves as an open platform designed for kids to imagine and create their own robot. Just turn it upside down. See the circuitry? Kids can visibly see that this is the KIBO “brain” and not magic. Just add the wheels with the motors and your KIBO is on the move!

    STEAM Approach

STEAM approach stands for for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as the primary learning areas for students. The following approach help kids to learn most out of it, expand their potential and increase thinking abilities.

Kinder Labs introducing KIBO – STEAM based Kit

After rigorous research by Kinder Labs, KIBO Robot Kit came to life. This comprehensive robot kit is an effective way to help kids learn programming (coding) from very early age. With this kit, children learn about code and mobile robotics. They get aware about the inputs, outputs and to use them effectively for making custom projects.

    KIBO Kit Details

The KIBO kit includes 15 items in total. There’s one KIBO robot with 15 programming blocks, including 4 parameter cards, 2 wheels, 2 motors, a sensor module for sound, a light bulb module and 1 premium quality art-stage.

The art stage is an excellent opportunity for kits to further decorate the robot.

    How KIBO works?

Behind every electronic project, there is hardware and software to make it happen. In this case, the hardware is the robot itself. The software is the programming blocks that connect everything wirelessly for a better learning experience.

More about KIBO – Usage Details

KIBO robot has a built-in scanner, commonly known as an embedded scanner. So the robot has the ability to scan available programming blocks. As the robot scans the bar codes from blocks, the commands are sent back to the robot for that block.

There’s no computer or tablet involved, primary because at the age of 4 to 7, kids must not get exposed to touch screens. It is in their best interest.

American Academy of Pediatrics Recommends the Same

Kids quickly hurt their eyes during their touch screen viewing time. That’s specially true with kids from age 4 to 10.  American Academy of Pediatrics has done specialized research over this and firmly recommends parents and teachers to avoid longer screen playing time with kids. Keeping this in view, KIBO has still made it possible for kids to interact with an amazing, simple and powerful robot.
