Perfect for running dirt-power experiments! Want to see what item in your fridge gives you the most power? Or connect Mu More details
The Kidder MudWatt STEM Science Fair Pack 80-MW10041 engages kids in science in a whole new way, using the power of mud! It harnesses the power of electricity-generating microbes naturally living in the soil beneath your feet. Kids experiment with different types of soil (and food from the fridge) to maximize their power. The free MudWatt Explorer App lets kids measure their power, track their MudWatt’s microbe growth, and unlock an awesome educational comic book. You can even power a digital clock and other electronics using the power of microbes!
The MudWatt is a fun and educational science kit that uses the natural micro-organisms found within the dirt to generate electricity! Within a few days, the MudWatt’s LED light will start to blink using the power generated by bacteria within your dirt. Within a week, you’ll be able to power a digital clock and thermometer - no batteries needed!
Experiment with different types of dirt (and things in your refrigerator) to see which are most powerful through open-ended scientific investigation. Track the growth of your MudWatt's power and bacteria population and unlock new chapters of a comic with the free MudWatt Explorer App (available on iTunes and Google Play)! Dig deep into the science with tons of lesson plans and other educational RESOURCES available for classrooms and science fairs! Enjoy discovery with one of the most creative, interdisciplinary STEM educational toys for the modern world: Microbiology, Energy, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Engineering, all in one experience! (MudWatts are reusable and can last for years!)

MudWatt Anode:
The MudWatt Anode is designed to maximize active surface area to foster a healthy community of microbes. When the Anode is placed within the MudWatt, electricity-generating microbes will develop on its surface.
Material: Graphite Fiber Felt
Thickness: 0.2” (0.5 cm)
Diameter: 3.15” (8 cm)
Connection: 9” Titanium Wire
Insulation Color: Green
MudWatt Cathode: The MudWatt Cathode is designed for maximum active surface area for the cathodic reaction to take place. At the Cathode, oxygen and protons interact with the electrons being generated by microbes at the Anode, forming water. This completes the circuit of the MudWatt Microbial Fuel Cell, and allows electrical current to be generated. Material: Graphite Fiber Felt
Thickness: 0.4” (1 cm)
Diameter: 3.35” (8.5 cm)
Connection: 7.5” Titanium Wire
Insulation Color: Orange
